Wow. I'm really bad at this blogging business. Apologies again whimsies. Although, I think I have probably saved you from lots of information/thoughts/ponderings about autism. You see, when my son was diagnosed 12 months ish ago I had NO IDEA how consuming it would all be! It's kinda like when you have a new baby - doesn't matter what conversation is going on around you, or how much you really want to contribute to THAT topic - you always manage to bring it back to the baby (or the autism). Even if it's by accident. It seems to be what happens! I'm scarily good at it!
I completely get that it's one of those things that doesn't interest everyone. Let's be honest, people are really only into stuff that affects (or is that effects?!?) them. I get it. 18 months ago I hadn't a clue about autism. I would probably have made some stupid rain man reference (btw, we autsy parents HATE that!). Now, I'm a wealth of knowledge. And I'm still a relative newbie. I keep wondering how full of info my head will be in 5, 10, 20 years time. Provided I don't lose my head entirely I guess! Lol

Anyway. That would be my reason for not blogging regularly.

So, who likes manzanita trees? They're a pretty hot trend I'm hearing. I'm considering adding them to the online store. What do you think hot or not?

And btw, did you know ASD stats have risen from 1 in 1000 to a startling 1 in 88 in just 10 years! See, I told you I was scarily good!

(that last bit, although true, was an attempt at humor! Please chuckle accordingly)

Hello Whimsies!

I'm really starting to get my head around the techy stuff now. Just in time too!

Did you know April is Autism Awareness Month? I know we’re halfway through April, but regardless of that, We have  just launched our AAW sale! 10% of all sales from now until the  15th of May, will be  donated to Autism Qld. There are many charities worthy of our support, but for  us, this one is personal.

In November last year my wee lad was diagnosed with Autism – we are now part of the  1 in 54 statistic*.
Autism Queensland are helping us and we are currently  launching into and Early Intervention program that will help him (and me!)  immensely.  Autism  Queensland is a community based, not for profit, Incorporated Association. They  provide services to children and adults with ASD and to their  families.

So,  if you want to help Light it Up Blue, head over to our online shop and grab some  BLUE lanterns. We have light blue, dark blue, polka dot blue, lace lanterns and  star lanterns in BLUE. And if you’re not in the mood for blue, you can purchase  your favourite and we’ll still donate 10%!

If you are not in the market at all for lanterns you can still help – by making  yourself aware. Autism is not a tragedy, but ignorance is!

Cheers,  Megz

PS  – I’m a newbie to the game but I am happy to answer any questions about Autism.
If I don’t know the answer I will do my best to find out!
PPS  – We would LOVE to see photos of your Light it Up Blue efforts so please share
them on our Facebook page or email to
