OMG! I needs one of these!!*
 Hello  Whimsies,

Long time no blog. Sorry about that, there’s a simple explanation – I mistook myself  for a bear and went into hibernation! Ha. Not really – that does sound nice though. I have been suffering a fair bit in the cold weather and it was very  nice to feel my toes again recently.

The  real explanation isn’t as simple. I’ve been fairly caught up in my personal  world – mostly autism related, directly and indirectly. This ASD and early intervention thing is pretty intense. And the flu – gah! 5 weeks! It cycled through all of us! For a while I lost my ‘disgustingly optimistic’ outlook but I  have it back now so my world is shiny again.  Yay.

There has been interesting stuff happening  in the M&W world – I just haven’t managed to post about it. I’ve been learning about the techy world of website and have managed to make some small  changes. I’ve found some new suppliers for things other than lanterns so keep an  eye out at the store for some new products soon! And some old ones making a  return!! The latest new products have just been added! Some super cute and Shiny metallic star lanterns! ooh and a new white lantern too - not shiny but still cute!

In  (OMG!) less than 4 weeks we have a M&W wedding! My bestie, Bel (who was a  massive M&W fan even before I took the reins) is getting married! I have been juggling official bridesmaid’s duties and Wedding stylist so that’s a bit  intense. We have some stunning ideas happening and can’t wait to share them with you all – but you’ll have to be patient, its bad luck seeing the stylings before  the event! (I might be confusing my superstitions there but you get the point!)  Might be able to let a few sneak peeks out in the next few  weeks!

Our  frosty winter hasn’t been very event friendly – but that didn’t stop the fabulous My Handmade Heart from having  an amazing Winter Solstice Dinner Party. They used our  individual lantern lights and light strings to light their event and, if I do say so myself, they look brilliant!
The girls did a magnificent job - you can read all about on the blog. The effort that went into the dinner party is very impressive! If any of my friends put on a dinner like this for me, I would seriously consider venturing out of my cave!

We will have shepherds hooks back in the online store very soon (in black AND white)! Thanks to a new M&W customer Elisse! Elisse needed some for her upcoming wedding and her enquiry has motivated me to list them again! Thoroughly looking forward to seeing some photos from her wedding!
If there is a product you sorely miss, or would like to see on M&W, drop me a line - I'm more than happy to hear your thoughts!

A massive shout out has to go to Suz – the amazing talent behind
Lace & Bubbles (how  awesome is that name!!). Suz is another WAHM (Work at  home mum) who juggles children and small business and she kindly share some with us.

Suz used  many of our products to style a 40th Birthday party and did an amazing job! You can check out more pics
here
The mix of different size lanterns always tickles my fancy!
While you’re there, have a look at her other gorgeous work! I’m in LOVE with the Green & White sit down dinner!
We’re very much looking forward to the next few months and PARTY SEASON! I think after such a cold winter, its going to be busy busy as everyone celebrates the warmer weather. Have you started planning yet?

Til next blog whimsies (which hopefully won’t take as long and *may* include a big announcement for longtime whimsies! ooooh mysterious!), keep up the awesomeness! and happy defrosting!

xx megz

It's not easy being green. Unless of course you're suspended from a shade-umbrella at the Flying Nun Cafe! It was a place where our collection of green lanterns got to "hang out" (yes I did just say that! *groan*) with our bestselling white lace lanterns  in this whimsical little setup.

Shade sales and umbrellas are great places to hang lanterns and fairylights from. It's an inexpensive way to colour-coordinate parties and events and you have the bonus of having pre-existing spokes to tie them to.

Just a quick update tonight - another quick 'Vestry' shoot - this one was on standby "if we had time"...but I just couldn't resist using that solid bar connecting the pillars! It was begging to have beautiful lanterns hung from it (seriously - don't go ever go for a walk down a tree-lined street with me if you want to get anywhere quickly...I'm easily distracted)!

We used a combination of irregular and regular paper lanterns, and cylindrical silk lanterns (Southbank market regulars will recognise these from our entrance!), and loved loved LOVED the end result!

Not the easiest of colour schemes and/or lighting - but we feel as if the yellow stood out perfectly against the backdrop in the end. How stunning is the feature wallpaper here? Just adore the butterflies! And it just goes to show that paper and silk lanterns DO mix - it doesn't have to be one or the other!

I think it's time to break out the summery-colours in honour of  the beautiful warm Spring-like day in Brisbane today! To me reds, oranges, pinks and purples were just designed to go together..so when I saw the red shade sails at the Flying Nun, I couldn't resist putting them together.  So without further ado, we have a bright and festive (but perhaps a little motley) collection of silks and paper lanterns in colours that you may not always see in the same close proximity - but we love it!
